Beechwood House, Peppard Common
Designed by Spratley Studios, Beechwood House was built in 2013 and is a fine example of architectural prowess. The autumnal palette of materials used and the sharp modern lines of the exterior are in perfect harmony with the backdrop of rolling landscape and surrounding countryside. As one enters Beechwood House through the large front door, the eye is drawn along the hall to the open plan kitchen/dining area and drawing room at the rear of the house. A combination of sliding glass doors and windows runs across the entire width of these rooms, providing a magnificent view and giving the sense that the garden and terrace are an extension of the house itself, creating a wonderful space for entertaining.
The central island in the kitchen incorporates a four-seat breakfast bar and has a thick granite worktop with a leathered finish. All units are concealed and the kitchen is separated from the drawing room by an attractive fireplace which can be appreciated from both sides. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor; one of which is triple aspect and has an en suite bathroom and one has an en suite shower room and dressing room. The third bedroom is currently used as a gym. There is also a cinema room with a fireplace; the perfect place to hunker down and relax. It is hard-wired for a multi-speaker system. Additionally, there is a large utility room and office/studio leading off from the reception hall. The ingeniously designed room layout means that all the principal rooms have very different outlooks which lend an element of surprise to the property.
A magnificent cantilevered oak staircase leads to the first floor and the master bedroom wing with en suite bathroom and dressing room. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow one to fully appreciate the unobscured and captivating views of the sloping fields and skyscape beyond. A laundry room and second bedroom with en suite shower are located at the other end of the first floor.
