Mangiare is a 120 sq.m upmarket Italian fast food outlet in the City of London.
Two internal structural columns were retained and a 5.5m long Carrara marble clad communal table with purpose designed/made benches straddles these. Dark grey and bright yellow Formica and oak was used throughout to clad various internal elements. New servery counters with wany edged oak boards were inserted separating the public areas from the new kitchen with it’s imported Italian oven.
The existing ceiling above the previous suspended ceiling tiles was left as we found it and painted dark grey to ‘disappear’. Exposed mechanical services (ventilation, heating and cooling) were installed at high level and are carefully coordinated with the new lighting installations.
A decorative screen of oak and grey/yellow Formica incorporating menu boards and signage runs from front to back behind the counters – helping to exaggerate the size of the space as well as provide a visually stimulating backdrop for queuing customers. Areas of mirror are also utilised to give a greater sense of volume.
We were also responsible for the design and implementation of the signage, menus and graphics including the shopfront.
